F1® exhibition celebrates Romain Grosjean – A man who celebrates his birthday twice

Romain Grosjean is not only an outstanding racing driver, but also a man who has celebrated his birthday twice in his life. On November 29, 2020, Grosjean survived a horrific accident at the Bahrain Grand Prix that left his Formula 1 racing car in flames.

“Survival”

His spectacular rescue from the flames and subsequent recovery made headlines around the world. The remains of Romain's car, which split in two at high speed and exploded instantly, were kept under lock and key for three years. In close collaboration between the Moneygram Haas F1® Team and the producers of the Formula 1® Exhibition, the chassis can now be seen in the F1 exhibition in Vienna. In a specially designed room entitled “Survival”, the chassis is accompanied by a large video installation showing previously unpublished footage of the accident.

“After the impact, 120 kilos of fuel and the battery were on fire. The survival cell protects the driver in a serious crash, including me. The chassis is still intact, the halo is there and other than the damage and burns it is still as it should be. I think that saved my life.”

Grosjean's story is a symbol of courage and perseverance. His remarkable comeback after the accident shows that he is not only a talented racing driver, but also a role model for perseverance and human will.

As a father of two and a dedicated motorsports enthusiast, Grosjean continues to advocate for safety in motorsports and uses his platform to give hope and inspiration to others. His extraordinary life and experiences make him a true hero on and off the race track.
