#TogetherStronger for mothers, children and educational equality
Already bundled last year Procter & Gamble (P&G) its social commitment under one roof #TogetherStrongerin order to achieve an even greater impact together with consumers.
In 2024, the company will continue its commitment to social justice, equality and inclusion. As part of the three initiatives #MothersHelping, #LearningOpportunities and #Children's Perspectives P&G collects donations together with retail partners and the active support of local consumers. This supports Caritas mother-child houses and learning cafés as well as the SOS Children's Village's education and support program.
The ambitious goal is a donation amount of 130.000 euros.
32 percent of all single parents in Austria are considered to be at risk of poverty or exclusion. The majority of them are women.2 In order to help single mothers and their children, P&G and BIPA support the twelve Caritas mother-child houses in Austria with the #MothersHelping initiative. These offer mothers and their children a safe place where they can not only live temporarily, but also receive support in looking for work. The mother-child homes also offer those affected low-threshold access to therapy and advice, provide them with everyday products and help them build a secure, long-term future.
2024 marks the seventh anniversary of P&G and BIPA's commitment to Caritas mother-child homes. The partners want to work together from April 25th to May 22nd, 2024 collect up to 100.000 euros in donations. Consumers can easily take part in the initiative: with every purchase of a product from the participating P&G brands Ariel, Always, Braun, Fairy, Gillette Venus, Lenor, Oral-B, Pampers and Pantene during the campaign period, the donation pot will be filled by eleven Cent.
According to the most recent PISA study, Austria continues to be one of those OECD countries in which a child's education still depends heavily on the socio-economic background of the parents. Children and young people in particular with a non-German native language have fewer educational opportunities compared to other countries.1 For this reason, P&G and BILLA support the 71 Caritas learning cafés in Austria with the #Learning Opportunities fundraising campaign. There, more than 2.100 children and young people from socially disadvantaged families receive basic education for a better future. The learning cafés are more than just learning and afternoon care: the project also aims to help break down traditional role models by raising awareness and thus ensure greater educational equality in Austria.
From April 25th to May 8st, 2024 The donation pot is filled by five cents with every purchase of a participating P&G product from the brands Ariel, Lenor, Oral-B, Pampers, Gillette, Fairy, Head&Shoulders and blend-a-med. P&G wants to collect up to 15.000 euros for the further training of around 1.000 volunteer carers at the Caritas learning cafés.
For children and young people in need, good education is an important factor on the path to a self-determined life. For this reason, in the SOS Children's Village, in addition to valuable aid measures such as living space, food supplies and educational support, they also have the opportunity to take part in the “Educational ABCd”. This project is part of the SOS Children's Village's education and support program and supports children and young people in developing their individual strengths and talents and courageously moving into a self-determined future. The SOS Children's Village attaches great importance to addressing the individual needs of all children and young people.
To support the SOS Children's Village in supporting children and young people in need, P&G and BIPA are collecting up to 15.000 euros in donations as part of the #Children's Perspectives campaign. Consumers could easily participate in the initiative: with every purchase of a product from the P&G brands Always, Ariel, Lenor, Oral-B, Pampers, Gillette, Braun, Fairy, blend-a-med and Head&Shoulders in the period March 14 to 27, 2024 The donation pot increased by three cents.
“We live in a time characterized by uncertainty, crises and major social challenges. For this reason, we must strengthen our solidarity and uphold the virtue of togetherness again. With our #TogetherStronger initiative, we are making an important contribution to greater social justice, equality and inclusion in Austria. Together with our partners, we support mothers and children in need and show that we follow our words with actions.”

“SOS Children's Villages is guided by the vision that all children have a loving home. One in which they experience security, safety and reliable relationships. A home where they can have a say and where their voices are heard. Together we give children the prospect of a good, self-determined life. Thank you for supporting us.”
Christian MoserManaging Director of the SOS Children's Village
“In our daily Caritas work we see that single mothers and families with large children are particularly often affected by poverty. Their situation has often become even worse as a result of ongoing inflation. We help - for example in the 71 social advice centers, the twelve mother-child houses, the 71 learning cafés and in many other places where Caritas is active for people in need. If there is any good news in these challenging times, it is the great willingness to help among the population and from partners like P&G, who, together with BIPA and BILLA, have been providing reliable help for many years. Thank you very much for that.”

“BILLA has been involved in Caritas educational projects for years. Education is the path to a self-determined life, especially for socially disadvantaged children and young people. As a supporter of #learning opportunities with P&G, we want to promote equal opportunities - an important focus of the work in Caritas' 71 Austria-wide learning cafés. It is particularly important to us to give girls and boys an equal perspective for the future.”
Felicia BeckHead of Sustainability BILLA
“As a family-friendly company with a female quota of 98%, the implementation of the fundraising projects #HelpingMothers and #Children's Perspectives - together with P&G - is of particular concern to us. In order to support mothers and children in particularly difficult times, we would like to collect donations again this year for the education and support program and at least 3.000 sleeping places in the mother-child houses. BIPA and the Caritas Mother-Child Houses have now had a 15-year partnership, which is characterized by projects such as “Round up, please!” and numerous voucher donations with which residents can shop at BIPA for themselves and their children.”
