The first local BBQ fans are just starting the 2024 grilling season. Over the course of the summer, more than 90% of Austrians will follow this example, as a current Kotányi grill study shows. We reveal the study results and trend topics for a successful barbecue.

“Cooking” on the grill awakens the desire to experiment more than ever and represents a pleasure experience that half of those surveyed treat themselves to up to five times a month. By the way, people are increasingly turning to their bag of tricks to ensure success: social media grill hacks with baking paper, foil, thermometers or “herb brushes” are booming.

The barbecue scene continues to evolve

Austria is a barbecue nation - and not just because 90% of Austrians like to fire up their grill in the warm season: “Our study shows that the barbecue scene has developed further: local barbecue fans are becoming more self-confident, are becoming more willing to experiment and are increasingly communicating with each other out of. Our spice mixtures and grilling tips are also often used as inspiration,” says Dominik Mattes, Director of Marketing & Innovation at Kotányi.
